My wife, Barbara, and I live in the lovely Victorian town of Maysville, Georgia. Our home is considered a late Queen Anne Victorian in its style and was built around the year 1905 only a few years after the founding of our little town. Our home, as well as a majority of the downtown area, is included on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to my service dog, Copper, my wife and I have three cats who keep us very entertained. My career path has wandered across many fields including Information Technology, Religion, Law Enforcement and Blacksmithing. I have been very fortunate that regardless of where I worked I was always able to pursue my avocation and work with Non-Government Organizations for disaster relief both in the US and abroad. I hold academic degrees in Emergency Management, Information Technology and Theology. I have been a Notary Public for Jackson County, Georgia since 2005. In April of 2006 I was named a Friar of the Church by the Universal Life Seminary. I was granted honoris causa a Doctorate of Divinity by the Universal Life Church in 2003. I was Ordained as a Minister of the Church in May of 1996. I am a long term member of the American Association Of Wedding Officiants, the American Latex Allergy Association, and am a Life member of both the American Radio Relay League and the Good Sam Club. I hold a General Class Amateur Radio License and have served my community as an Emergency Coordinator for the local Amateur Radio Emergency Service, and as the Lead Instructor for the local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). I also served on the county’s Citizen Corps Council, the Hazard Mitigation Committee, the E911 Advisory Board, and the Communications Committee. I am the current License Trustee for the Maysville Abbey Amateur Radio Club. I was appointed a Lieutenant Colonel, Aide-de-Camp Governor's Staff by Georgia's Governor Nathan Deal in 2012. I am honoured to be the 2011 American Red Cross, East Georgia, Citizenship Hometown Hero. I was nominated as the Georgia CERT Member of the Year for 2010. I have received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for fourteen of the past fifteen years. |
